Day 7

Day seven was all about crossing the Nullabor. It really is a flat treeless plain. Luckily the weather kept it intetesting, and spectacularly beautifully too. At one point there was massive bright white cumulative clouds building on the left, full rainbow with seven bands of colour in frount, and ominous dark grey stormy rain on the left, all above a landscape that seemed to stretch on forever.

It was cold and the strong cross wind meant that riding was a challenge. The occasional stops at roadhouses were a relief. We travelled for about 600 km, just about all of it in a straight line, one straight stretch went for 165km, the longest stretch of straight road in Australia.

We wanted to make it to Norseman for the night but when we finished fueling up at Balladonia the sun was looking low on the horizon and we thought the better of doing the last 200km in the dusk, due the sun glare and the risk animals on the road.

We booked a donger for the night and had a pleasant evening talking with other bike people at the bar.
