With the big trip to Perth turning into what seems to be an insatiable gear/gadget fest;
girlfriend-like-creature has semi convinced me to purchase the SPOT 2 GPS tracking device.

Under normal circumstances GPS tracking suggestions by partners is well within psyco/stalker territory. But the emergency SOS function is a definite safety thing and the waypoints on a google map for progress updates seems pretty neat.
