Day two

After a really nice breakfast with fresh oranges from the tree out the back and home made fig jam on toast Amelia and I set off in high spirits. Larance rode along with us on his big 1200 Yamaha for the first kilometer or so then with a wave peeled off and we were on our own.

Our first stop, Walpeup General Store, had suprisingly good coffee but no fuel. Next fuel is in Pinaroo about 150 kilometers away. This was a bit of a problem because 5 minutes out of Walpeup my fuel light came on which according to the manual and my calculations probably meant I had about 100km left.

The servo is closed on Sundays, was a common theme in all the small towns we went through until one friendly local pointed to "the old guy down the road". The ancient old bushy type hobbled out of the cluttered garage served us petrol from and equally ancient looking bowser. I were very relieved as we put 17 litres into my 18 litre tank. Amelia didn't care she has a 23 liter tank so was fine.

We hunted around for a nice spot for lunch and eventually found a track leading down to the river. Both bikes and riders had their first off road experience which eventually lead to a very nice spot for lunch. Soup from home on the Murray. Warm and sunny.

Fanging on past Berri we found a nice sport at Houghten's bend by the river for camping the night.

I set up the camp while Amelia went into town on the Guzzi for food. The night was very relaxing, lots of stars, lots of noise from wild life in the river, lots of good conversation.

Then with a little noise my bike fell over. The stand had pushed through the soft soil. The only damage was a broken front blinker. Amelia gave some special extra sticky, sticking people back together, sticky tape from her first aid kit for the repair.

I'd like to add... that after the good conversation, it was time for nature calling... i'd managed find that tree in the distance, prepared myself then just as I was squatting there happily relieving myself i hear this "AMELIA.... I NEED YOUR HELP" in a quickly please tone.
I thought he'd might have burned himself - No... bike fell over! problem solved with a squashed can.
